On the Job Training at Melton

Congratulations on being accepted into Melton Truck Lines orientation! We are excited to meet you and want to give you every opportunity to succeed. The information on this page will give you insight into what to expect and how to prepare you and your family for your future career with Melton.

What to Expect During On-the-Job Training

Most entry-level drivers will be a part of our 14-day on-the-job training, where we will cover our culture, safety standards, load securement, and tarping best practices. If you need any additional help during the class, we can provide additional one-on-one training. We want to give you the tools you need to be successful.

Our on-the-job training program focus items include specific commodity securement, trip planning, logs and compliance, hands-on communication tools training, backing, injury prevention, and more.

Our on the job training program is unlike other orientation programs in the industry. We seek to provide our new drivers with every tool they need in order to perform their job successfully. Our rotational training allows for a low student to instructor ratio, which means one-on-one training is very common throughout the program.
